Has anyone updated to SP2 yet, and is it worth having?

I've installed it on my pc and its the best thing i've ever done. This is mainly because i've seen massive gains in my wireless network connection. It was fluctuating between 36mbps - 54mbps and i often had trouble connecting to webpages. Its now 54mbps constant and havent had any trouble since. Nero 6 does say its not compatible with sp2 but i've burnt both cds and dvds off no problemo. Security is a lot better too.

Thanks for the info :)

I called Mr. Gates and asked him for a dodgy copy of SP2 to go with my dodgy copy of XP, to my amazement he duly obliged :D

I'm all upgraded and educated now :moonie:

I declare SP2 to be teh win.

Well microsoft in all their wisdom to "dominate the world and beyond" have released a patch which renders many a third party software useless.

I know why Krak3n had to reformat, and it is purely because of SP2. I myself avoided that feit, however I have spent a day and a half trying to get updates for software which will not function with this version of XP !??!?!? :tosser:

I will say however that the update has its good points, but MS never make things easy..........because of this I have a personal prayer for Mr. Gates:

May the Fleas of a Thousand Camels infest the crotch of Mr. Gates who has screwed up my day, and may his arms be too short to scratch.

AMEN!

P.S. Not yet m8, still gathering dust, my time since I've been back has been pretty turbulent, so I havent sat on the PC to play yet :( but soon ;)

arghhhh, stay away. sp2 is like a virus that only starts working after 5 days. its completely rogered my machine over ffs, i even get lag on bf42. bfv is the worst, being i could run it at medium/high graphics at 40fps, now i run it on lowest and get an average of 15 fps, in some places (the temple on cambodian incursion) i get an average of 0.1 fps which last for about 20 seconds before i can somehow get out. sp2 is the devils work (that'd be bill gates then) please dont go near it for the love of god, save yourselves before its too late.

No performance, stability or other problems for me at all. Sorry guys :)

ok, it still turns out that bill gates is evil, but not for the reaons i first though. throughout i21 it turns out that i'd been playing on a 834mhz pc, meaning i had lost 2ghz is cpu power :)

after trying to tinker with my bios to put it back it decided to drop once more to 637mhz. fortunately after flashing my bios i'm back on a winnar with a amd xp 2800+ :D

OMG h4x

I have the same problem as Bleak :fuck:

Last night I attempted to have a couple of games of BF for the first time since getting SP2, my ping was erratic as shite, got such bad lag that if I moved the mouse in one direction, after I stopped moving the screen would do a little zig-zag before it stopped, it did that every time I touched the mouse. Then I kept getting "conn probs" and got booted from no less than 5 different servers which had 15-20 ppl in them when I joined and less than 100ms server ping. Each time I got no more than 5 mins in each server prior to being booted due to conn probs.

I went and checked my ping times on pcpitstop.com which bounces you off to the US and I was repeatedly getting between 70-115 ping to mid-US servers and 32 ping to an Austrian server. Which is standard and a relatively good result in ping times.

I know Im geting on a bit, but if memory serves me right I had no such problems prior to SP2. :wtf: Definately NOT a happy bunny.

How odd is that, I did the same as Rex (uninstalled SP2) and things are back to normal. Go figure :frusty:
