Dothan adaptor in 478 mobo - first benches on web (http://forums.legitreviews.com/viewtopic.php?t=1570)

For those that havent been following the little craze over the past few months Dothans are Intel Centrino processors that have a whopping 2mb onboard cache. Up until now you have had to buy expensive (£150ish) mobos to use them as desktop pcs. They are also severly limited due to an old chipset, including things like single channel RAM and AGP x4.

Along comes ASUS and bring out this adaptor so that you can plug Dothan's into Socket 478 (Intel's socket before 775). This article will probably show the first benches of Dothan's in a 'proper' mobo.

A Dothan at 2.5Ghz beats the FX-55 @ stock speeds in gaming benches. Benches (http://www.gamepc.com/labs/view_content.asp?id=dfipm&page=10)

You can get the 1.7Ghz Dothans on ebay for about £80 and their prices are coming down dramatically in July again.

Another advantage of Dothan's is that as they put out little heat, you can have a very powerful but very nearly SILENT pc.
