just a quicky really, but is it best to reformat you hd when installing new MB/CPU? in the past i havent and i didnt get any major problems but it is reccomended?

I would say it's usually recommended that you do format.

i tried to do it without a format and got nowhere, so i would say a big yes.

Yeah windows isnt happy when the underlying motherboard changes that its got different drivers for.

Indeed. Every time a piece of hardware is changed without fresh drivers, somewhere in the world.... an orphan dies.
